Hey, hope everyone is enjoying the summer, or winter, depending on where you live. It's been really hot here. I used to like the heat, but not so much anymore. Give me a pool though and I can stay out all day. LOVE to be in the water. Had a wonderful weekend holiday with my friend Robin, her daughter Brenda and Brenda's son. We spent the weekend in Watertown, NY and finally decided to stay overnight so we could spend more time together. Met up at the mall as usual and hung out there for awhile. Had a fun time in this silly little "hand made experiments" museum, kids loved it but we found it a little immature and cheesy, oh well, it's all about the kids. Headed down to Whispering Angel where I was finally able to buy my tiny baby angel wrapped in angel wings and picked up a little bouquet of daffodils and bees that I thought was really cute.
Headed to the hotel, swimming was first on my agenda, it takes all my pain away when I am in the water. Dinner was next, Ponderosa, ours closed over 20 years ago and I just loved it. Back to the hotel and hung out until we were all exhausted. Next morning Zoe and I headed to the pool, all to ourselves. Then breakfast, then headed up to Thompson Park to let the kids burn up all the energy before heading home. It was sad to leave Robin knowing I only see her once a year, but I always look forward to our visits. no matter how few and far between.

As for my health things are stable, which means no changes from last month. I am very relieved about that. I really don't want to go back into chemotherapy. I am still doing my monthly x-rays, blood work and bone strengthening infusions. I've gotten better at taking my own IV out with a little help from my husband, Peter, and Lesley, my high school friend and nurse.

Going to have another CT scan just as a precaution, having some uncomfortableness around my ovaries, like my period, which I haven't had in over 2 years, so we want to be sure it's not cancer related. If everything is okay there, it's off to my family doctor.

My arthritis is giving me hell, but nothing I can do. Since I have a blood clot in my brain, and have for a long time, I can't take anti-inflammatories, so I suffer. Been waiting for 2 months to see a rheumatologist, but the waiting period is horrendous.

And life goes on, stress gets to me lately and I have to take breaks now and again. The kids are home from school for summer break so we are trying to keep busy. Oh by the way, 2 years, 10 months just passed. :)

Enjoy your summer.

  7. Hi Velda. Annette here, cause I don't know how to select a profile, hahahaha.. Happens I have a pool, and whenever you are in the area, or want to take a drive this way, IT'S ALL YOURS! Well, if it's really hot you may have to share with the rest of us :) . We are having a pig roast this year, Aug. 25. If you are up to it and looking for something to do that day we'd be glad to have you and Peter and the kids come by. As for the arthritis..I know it sucks, have it in both knees. I don't know what you eat on a daily basis, but I read some books, and they all seem to agree that ditching processed food and what really worked for me was I gave up on white bread and flour completely and white sugar..It made a HUGE difference after just a week. I "fell off the wagon" and now I really feel it. A smarter person that myself would jump back on you'd think. Anyhow, just a thought to share with you. You are always in my prayers and keep up the good fight. YOU ARE AMAZING!

  8. I'm glad you had such an amazing time in NY and that your health remains stable. I'm sorry you are dealing with so much pain...I wish we could all share in it and take it away from you. Please know that you have the *world* supporting and praying for you and your family. I completely understand you needing to take breaks, but I hope you can give us updates now and then...selfishly, I need to know how you are doing!

Take care of yourself and know we are all here whenever you feel up to chatting!!

    XOXOXOXOXO....

  9. V --- so glad you finally got into the old blog as I was really starting to worry and didn't know how to contact you. Spent the last few minutes catching up with your roller-coaster life and am glad you are still here. Sorry to hear about the pain --- if fin't know that a blood clot on the brain could restrict your medication so much. Wish I could somehow teleport a spa pool to you so yu could soak it away.

And glad you could see Robin and Brenda too... that is always a good thing!

Hugs and wishes for continuing here with us...

    Love, Carol
